Since the first day of school, I have been working with a freshman to sort through the new Media Center's resurfaced vinyl collection. The librarian let us off the leash, telling us that the layout and atmosphere of that room could be however we pleased. (In her words-"I love self-starters, and you are the epitome of that!") My contributions have been a "how-to-handle-vinyl" guide, a rule sheet, a clipboard for new vinyl suggestions, and of course, a clean and orderly environment for our opening day.
Today is that day. Alongside opening the Record Room to the public, we are also introducing a new tradition- First Fridays. The first Friday of each month, we open up the room's soundproof doors for the whole Media Center to hear. I cannot wait for this new project of mine to take off, and for everyone to enjoy the new and exciting things I have worked hard to bring to the school.

There thousands of words I could use to describe the lead up to, and execution of, the pep rally this year. It was cut short due to the rain, causing hours of preparation to be washed down the drain. Here was the response I sent to my administrators/ faculty who helped me coordinate the events and write the script:
This email is the best way to encapsulate the moment.
I love my community.

It's homecoming week, and I've been preparing all summer for this madness. The stress will be horrific, but it will be rewarding. I've been assisting my Student Council advisor on organizing a pep rally that is diverse from most years past- it will be our entire district, rather than just the high schoolers. Yikes! Meticulously planning out games to incorporate both seniors and kindergarteners has been difficult, but we're working through it. Each day I spend long bursts of time tweaking the pep rally script, so it will be ready for the big day. How my advisor does this every year? I have no idea.
On a different note, club fair is on that same day. When I envision how it'll go, I always return to the simple phrase my PACE tour guide used: "If you ever see me during club fair, I'll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off!" There's no better way to sum it up. Assuming you've already seen my resume... yeah. This week will be nerve-wracking, and stressful- but so much fun- and I know it will leave an impression on how I task-manage, during my years to come.

Today I brought my art club to a community event, where we had the privilege to face paint little kids. That's all I have to say- I just thought it was really fun, and I keep thinking about all the amazing people I met. I got to paint several scary skeletons, a lion, a cheetah, a pig, and many more. This meant the world to me, getting to listen to the perspectives of the youth of Clinton. I would love to do another event like this before I graduate!

As this year is wrapping up, I'd like to reflect on my most recent accomplishments. I've won the Student Council presidency campaign. While I recover from surgery this summer, I will spend my moments of boredom preparing for next year. Next, I hit over 150 service hours, as a Junior. I'm so proud of myself! Last, a few weeks ago, we held our Junior Awards Ceremony. I've won the Russell Sage "Student Sage Award" Scholarship, The US Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, and an award given to an outstanding student involved in the school's business classes.
Senior year will be my time to give back to the community (even more than before). It's a fitting last hurrah before I transition to college. The outlook is good. I feel confident. See you next school year.

It's AP testing week- and prom week! Our venue is at our local art center, in a white gallery space. As the head of prom décor, I've invested a lot of time into figuring out how to fill the blank slate while still being mindful of the budget. I've shared sketches with the team, and I'm so excited for the day we get to bring everything to life.
Balancing both APs and Prom committee has definitely been a challenge but also a learning experience. I was originally in charge of décor, not management, but I've naturally stepped into more of a leadership role. I've learned to adapt, stay positive, and support the team. Everything is a lesson, and I know the end result will be something truly rewarding.
